The Human Resource Management Professionals Act No.52 of 2012 was assented into law by His Excellency President Mwai Kibaki on 31st December 2012, but the date of its commencement was 4th January 2013.

The council continues to diversify the services and solutions available to members. Some of the benefits to members in good standing include:
Trainings
Continuous Professional Development through trainings and seminars. IHRM offers free forums every quarter and subsidized trainings at the branch level
Mentorship
Building the skills and competencies of HR professionals in Kenya for them to collaborate and build relationships capable of delivering transformational change
